Dr. Grace Chen, PhD, TLLP
Psychologist
Ann Arbor & Virtual
I'm deeply committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to all. My professional journey is rooted in a strong passion for serving culturally diverse families, delving into the complexities of Asian American identity and the immigrant experience, and supporting neurodivergent children and youth.
My academic background is firmly grounded in School Psychology and Elementary Education, bolstered by extensive experience in various clinical, hospital, and educational settings. I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in School Psychology at Louisiana State University. Prior to joining Mala, I completed a predoctoral clinical internship at the University of Michigan University Center for the Child and Family. In my clinical practice, I find myself drawn to approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and behavioral-based parent training. I believe in infusing creativity and innovation into my therapeutic work to foster stronger connections with each unique client.
Much of my formative years were spent in Ann Arbor before I moved to the south. Some of my fondest memories include exploring the art fair, enjoying the wonderful public libraries and parks, going apple picking, and cheering on the Michigan Wolverines. Returning to Michigan has filled me with excitement and a deep sense of purpose. I'm eager to serve the diverse needs of this wonderful community, which has played a significant role in shaping who I am today.
Outside of work, I enjoy rock climbing, making ice cream, reading, playing music, and sports. I look forward to the privilege of working with you and your family and embarking on a journey of self-discovery, growth, and healing together.
