Antoinette Ulmer, LLMSW
Limited Licensed Social Worker & DEI Director
Plymouth & Online
I’m Antoinette Ulmer, a clinical social worker deeply committed to helping adolescents, teens, adults, couples, and families navigate life in a way that feels more grounded, empowered, and aligned.
I support clients in fully understanding themselves; how they think, feel, respond, and relate to others while building practical tools to manage emotions, communicate needs, and move through life with more clarity and confidence. Part of our work may include exploring your history to better understand patterns in how you navigate the world, while collaborating on a plan that aligns with your goals and the life you want to create. Whether we’re working through anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, relational challenges, or everyday stressors, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be real and supported enough to grow.
My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to each individual. I integrate evidence-based practices with relational and culturally responsive care, recognizing that your experiences, background, and identity all matter in the healing process. Therapy with me is not one size fits all. It is interactive, intentional, and centered around what actually works for you.
I also work closely with parents and caregivers, offering support and guidance to better understand your child’s emotional world while strengthening connection, communication, and structure at home.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Mala Child and Family Institute. In this role, I lead initiatives that prioritize culturally affirming, inclusive, and accessible care. I am passionate about addressing gaps in mental health services and creating spaces where individuals and families, especially those from underrepresented communities, feel seen, respected, and supported.
At the core of my work is a belief that healing happens when people feel safe enough to explore and empowered enough to grow. My role is to support you in reconnecting with yourself, building insight, and creating meaningful, lasting change.
Outside of work, I value travel, trying food from different cultures, and music. I practice self care and stay intentional about the things that fill my cup, including spending time with my family and my two Pomeranian dogs.

I believe that everyone should have a “person”, or a support system to help them walk through life. Social work embodies so many values that I adapt in my personal life. Being a part of a profession that allows me to be true to myself and support others has always been ideal.
-
Touching the lives of others is my favorite thing about this career. Being able to provide clients with care, various resources, while problem-solving and navigating through issues as a unit. I emphasize the term unit because I consider the work we do together being a team, and I think this strengthens my connection with clients.

Anything from Maya Angelou is my favorite but one that comes to mind:
“Nothing can dim the light which shines from within.”

Not everyone is provided the same luxuries in life and I feel that my role is alleviating some of the pressures that come with that and bridging the gap. I wish that every client feels solace and a sense of relief when entering our office space, as I do being that it provides a sense of home.

I may have given this away with my quote, but I’ll add a few more. My inspirational people include Beyonce, Maya Angelou, Michelle Obama, and truthfully the women in my family. I believe that powerful women, come from other prestigious women and who would I be not to acknowledge the women before me.

My personal library includes so many that I don’t have a favorite book, but the self-help authors I’d recommend would include: Elaine Welteroth, Iyanla Vanzant, Maya Angelou, Michelle Obama, and Shannon Boodram to name a few.
