Mission & Philosophy

I have always believed in the saying of the Buddha, “We are our thoughts.” Our mindset determines how we approach our opportunities and perceived limitations. Working on overall health and mood status for everyday living is a walk I love to take with others.

Academic Background

At Michigan School of Psychology, I learned family counseling. My internship with Community Mental Health was focused on working with children and their families as they made each day the best it could be. It was there that I began to work with CBT and Behavioral-Based Parental Therapy. It was there that I learned how to create and be a “safe space” for children and adults coping with trauma and maximizing their everyday lives at the same time.

At California Pacifica, a great deal of my doctoral research was done online. My dissertation covered the changes to our brains and daily thought processes with trauma and complex trauma. My initial fieldwork included older adults in an inpatient setting. It really taught me the value of EMDR, and behavior-based therapies at any age, but especially for young people.

Life Outside of Work

I am very passionate about my work, which has also led me to develop a rich life outside of work. I experience a lot of joy spending time with my family. Since Michigan has always been my home, celebrating each season with friends and loved ones is something I really enjoy, as well. I also love hot yoga, music yoga, and singing with my old choir members and friends from high school.
